An Unexpected Meeting With The Boss

Negai examines the large building in front of him. He sat somewhere comfortable, but safe enough to ward off any suspicions. The front entrance was blocked by a gate, two guards, and there were probably more surrounding the building. The guards most likely took shifts during the day. The Kasai Headquaters had high security. At least, that's what he heard. If he could go through their defenses , he could find a place to sneak in. There was an open spot high up on the building.

If he demanded to speak with Kasai about hiring him, they wouldn't take him seriously. He had to show them he was just as good, or even, better than them. That would really get his attention. All he had to do was finish a few missions for them, and he could leave with money. Enough to take him through a month or so. Then move on.

Night time.

He made his way toward the gate. As he approached the guards, he looks around, puzzled. It was to make them think he was lost. The guard to the right wasn't so tough. One or two hits would do it. But he would have to attack the other one first.

" Excuse me. Could you help me out with something? "

At the same time Joanna was walking through the forest near the building. Now and then she stopped and listened to the noise coming from their base. She couldn´t really imagine what they were doing. No, she could but she don´t wanted to imagine. A lot of very talented hitman disappeared in the last few weeks and she suspected them to be the cause. She knew that they would either kill them or trying to get some information about Vongola and their allies. Vongola was their goal after all.

"How do I get into it without causing a big commotion ..."

She already knew. But she needed to be clever in the first place. They knew the Cavallone and they knew that we would make our move in the near future. Going in without a good plan would risk her life as a hitman and the safety of Dino. He wouldn´t let her die in there. He´d rather change places she knew that. She had a guilty conscience due to her obstinate action. She didn´t tell Dino about going to Kasai Headquarter and, actually, it was no emergency situation. She just wanted to know if they were the cause of disappearance of those hitman.

She took a deep breath then went on. She had reached the end of the forest and that meant facing the big building in front of her. Her eyes searched for a guard and found them. A slender guy was standing near them. She couldn´t imagine him to be one of them and she didn´t know why.

"Let´s stay calm and watch what´s happening."

Negai stepped closer, pointing to the right.

" Is that w- "

Suddenly, Negai covers the left guard's mouth, kneeing him on his stomach. As the guard bent forward to cough, Negai uses the side of hand to attack the other guard's neck, weaking his balance and sending him down to the ground. Negai holds the two guards by the shoulder as they were about to pass out. He applies force on their pressure points, and they slowly pass out. He faces the gate, quiet, watching to see if there were any alarms. No sound.

" Thanks guys. You've been a big help. "

He checks inside the weaker guard's suit for something to open the gate. He finds a card with writings and a picture of the guy. He was tempted to wear a suit and try to blend in, but that wouldn't work this time. The guards were set up against the gate, standing, so it wouldn't look like someone attacked them. He places the card in his pocket, then begins to climb up the gate, instead of opening it. Quietly and cautiously. Negai turns around, like he heard someone behind him. Then he turns back, climbing up the gate with his umbrella.

She watched his moves carefully.

"He could be a big help for me to get to know what I wanna know."

She looked around then fast but silent she went after him. When she arrived at the gate she looked back again. No turning back now. But she couldn´t stop worry about her unauthorized actions. Dino would be very mad if he finds out what she was doing and she don´t wanted him to be mad on her. On the other hand she knew that some new information could help handle the new situation.

"I just won´t make any mistakes and I´m fine."

She took a deep breath then starting to climb up the gate and following the strange guy. She knew she saw his face somewhere but she couldn´t remember where.

The place was dark. Some lights were placed around the building, so it wasn't so hard to notice where the building was. There were probably more guards around. The building seemed larger than before.

Negai, staying low, slowly made his way to the side of the building. Surprisingly, there weren't any guards in that area. He leans against the wall. With his back facing the building, he looks ahead to see if there were any signs of someone following his trail. Everything seemed to fine. He reaches inside his jacket, taking out a long wire. After twisting the tip of his umbrella, he attaches the wire under it, sliding the rest of the wire inside the umbrella. He steps forward and looks up for something he could grab a hold of. As he points the tip of the umbrella up to the top of the building, it shoots off, sticking into the wall. He tugs the umbrella to make sure it's secure too go up. With a push of a button, the wire reels him up. He goes up the building with a free hand.

When he reaches the top, he uses his free hand to grab onto a part of the building. He lifts himself up, falling forward on top of the building. He sits up, now seeing the whole place from above. He was really high up in the air. Heights were not his thing. Catching his breath from being a bit dizzy, he steps back. He quickly takes off the wire from the umbrella. Now plotting his next move.

She stopped at the top of the gate. The large building was towering up in front of her but she couldn´t see too much of it from that point. She needed to get a overall view but she knew that this guy was somewhere around and she couldn´t risk to be seen by him.

"Let´s wait a moment and see what´s happening. I´m speaking to myself again..."

She shaked her head then slowly climbs down the gate trying to stay in the shadow of it. While wondering where this guy could have been gone she checked the area around her.

"He can´t disappear that easily..." she thought.

Negai sat down. For the past two minutes he's been thinking about a way to enter the building without drawing too much attention on himself. He could make a hole through the roof and land on the ground inside. But there could be someone at that exact spot. That would mean fighting his way through anything they had inside, since he didn't come up with a better approach. He had to stay calm. There was no telling whether someone would notice the guards or not.

The level below him still seemed safe. Scanning the place below him, he could still see that it was dark. Darker than where he is. The small gleam of light showed some parts. He could see a figure walking along. His face stuck out the from the roof to get a better view.

" Who... is that? "

Negai glides down the building the same way he went up. A small sound was made from his landing. He waits five seconds until he sneaks over to the other side of the building. A bunch of windows or a door would be on the right side from where he was.

Suddenly, the light in a room turns on. It's bright enough to be seen, even at the gate.

She was getting nervous. Waiting wouldn´t help her finding out anything but sneaking in like an idiot wouldn´t help either. She checked the area again then, carefully moving forward, she tried to find a place where she could get into the building. She marveled that there were no other guards trying to protect their headquarter. When she heard a noice near her she flinched.

"You´re not careful enough. Keep yourself together..." she thought.

She tried to step back just a little without making any noise when she noticed the guy, she had seen before, watching a person.

"Where did he come from?"

She looked up to the roof of the building then at him. Carrying an umbrella wouldn´t help disappearing like that unless... She raised her eyebrow then she made a decision.

"Let´s see what he´s up to ..."

She followed him again.

A dark figure appeared inside from the window.

Negai kept staying low, looking up to see if he or she noticed him below. There was something going on in there. And he didn't want to stick around before they noticed him. After a moment, he looks back again, like someone was behind him. He takes a deep breath.

In a second, he was already gone. He ran over to the side, then down the area, getting closer to the person behind him. He wasn't sure if someone was there, but it couldn't have hurt to try. The darkness was good enough to cover his movements.

The moment she looked through the window the guy in front of her disappeared again. Joanna couldn´t tell if went further into the headquarter or somewhere else. It was too dark to see anything. But one ability of her was her good intuition. She knew immediately that he had noticed her, no that he felt that there was someone behind him. He couldn´t have noticed her.

"This guy is ..."

A movement near her induced her to step back until she felt the cold wall of the building. One of her hands groped for a door where she could hide or maybe get in. Her other hand went to her katana. She was prepared to fight if necessary but she don´t wanted to cause a big commotion. If possible she wanted to avoid a fight, at least at their headquarter.

He made his way to his target. Or maybe he or she wasn't real, and this was all in his head. His umbrella was held under his arm with his other hand holding it, like he was carrying a gun. Shooting the person would make a sound, resulting in the alarm going off and his plan failing. So this was going to used to scare, rather than be used as a weapon. It was dark anyway. If he came from behind, the person wouldn't tell the difference.

After a few seconds, he noticed a figure moving back towards the building. A guard maybe. He still had to make sure. When he reached the person, he would have to cover their mouth and attack, or ask questions. No time to waste. He had to do it now.

He stepped closer to her. Slowly and cautiously. The darkness made it even better. As he approached the person, his hand reaches out.

She knew that he was close but she still tried to avoid a confrontation. He was getting closer and closer and her hand couldn´t find a door where she could hide behind. Although the situation wasn´t the way she planned, Joanna wasn´t nervous at all. Of course she wouldn´t. She was a hitman.Thrilling situations would make her feel good.

"I´m not going to be caught here." she thought.

Her second hand switched to her katana and pulled it noiseless out of the sheath. She closed her eyes to locate his exact position, holding her katana ready to fight.

Negai rushed forward. His plan was to reach out and force the person against the wall, or make them fall them. Then he would hold the person and keep them from moving, in case he or she had a weapon. With his umbrella drawn back, he lunges out.

With his arm stretched, he reaches towards the target. Ready to attack, if necessary.

His movement were to loud to hide himself. He probably wanted to force her to be quiet. Due to his action of taking out the guards he wasn´t one of them. But what was his intention? Maybe he could help finding the answer to her question. But first she needed to make sure that he wasn´t her enemy and that meant to take him down and trying to make him speak. She opened her eyes then fastly moving forward.

The figure starts to move. So he wasn't wrong. He had wondered wy there wasn't an alarm yet, if the guard had already noticed him. This person.... was different.

Negai, still moving forward, reached out with his hand. At the point where they reach each other, his hand is placed towards the person's neck. He tries to push the person back with speed and force, still unaware of his target's identity.

The moment he tried pushing her back she trained her katana on his neck.

"Don´t move or you´ll die." she said quietly.

With one hand she held her katana, with the other hand she grapped his hand to stop him reaching out for her neck. She wasn´t sure either he was an enemy or not, but his aura didn´t felt evil.

The tip of his umbrella pressed against her side.

" Same to you. "

A small light gave him some clues on the person in front of him. By her voice, she's a female. He noticed her hair was light in color, and that her eyes weren't dark. She was young... maybe around his age.

He could have tried to attack her with his umbrella, then proceed to pushing her down. His speed hasn't been matched yet. Though he had to give her credit for seeing him, and moving quick. They were in a position where neither one could make a false move. So he remained still, to give her some comfort. She still could've been a guard. At any moment, more guards could come. He was patient, but he wasn't at ease.

She noticed that he wasn´t sure what to do but she wasn´t sure either. If he was a one of them it would be wrong to let her guard down and if he was an outsider he could be also an enemy. But what if he was kind of an ally? She decided that it wouldn´t matter. Maybe she could use him to get to know what she wanted to know.

"What are you gonna do now? At this rate we´ll leak out or die. I can´t affort being caught here."

She wasn´t too convinced to tell him this but she needed to get out of this situation.

Negai stared at her face, though it was still dark. Her tone of voice didn't sound too convincing. He didn't move yet. Maybe she would let her guard down if she began to get tired. Staying in the same position for a few minutes required patience. Patience he had. Unfortunately, this whole thing was tiring him. She said she couldn't afford to be caught here. So she wasn't a guard. Or she's lying. He had to test her.

" You're not going to hurt me. "

If she made any movements, he would have to take her down. He wouldn't hurt her. He'd never harm a female. Only keep her from hurting him.

This whole situation was pissing her off, but she couldn´t change it. She kind of regretted it that she didn´t tell Dino going on that mission. She felt uneasy and couldn´t say what she woul do next. That he was waiting for her reaction was not to her advantage but it also meant that he don´t wanted to kill her. When he spoke to her she made a decision.

"I´m not going to hurt you if you not going to hurt me. That´s how it is."

She dropped down her katana but she was still ready to take him down with it if he would try to hurt her. His speed didn´t made her worry due to the fact that she didn´t showed her real speed before.

Negai took a few steps back, slowly. His guard wasn't down yet. His umbrella was put down, the tip touching the ground. He now wondered how he would go with this. This girl gave up quicker than he expected. She seemed like she had no patience. But she wasn't so vulnerable. It was sort of a surprise she could read his movements, but she could've been better. Maybe she is better than this. Between him and her, they had some space. Her sword against his special umbrella. Like a blade versus a gun. There was some advantage here.

" ... Fine. "

With the darkness surrounding them, he wished he could see her clearly. He couldn't read her facial expressions. But could tell where her body is. And speaking of body... She seemed to have a nicely shaped figure. He shakes his head at the thought, trying to concentrate.

" ... What are you doing here? "

This guy was acting different than expected. What was he thinking at all? She had a weird feeling. He was a bit taller but it seemed that he was younger but very skilled. She noticed only now his appearance. Dark hair and dark eyes but she couldn´t tell the definite colour. It wouldn´t matter but it felt kind of comfortable since she was living in Italy and most of the people there have dark eyes and hair. His weapon was unusual but that doesn´t meant that it was weak. When he was shaking his head a surprised look appeared on her face. He was doing the same thing Dino was doing sometimes when he was speaking to her and she couldn´t imagine what it could mean. His voice interrupted her thoughts.

"I could ask you the same, but to soothe you I´m not a guard or a member of this family. By the way, could you step back, you´re too close."

The little space between them made her feel uneasy again.

He briefly examined the space between them. He was a bit closer to her, but he thought it was enough. Even stepping back more wouldn't hurt his advantage. Long range or short range.

" Sorry. "

He steps back some more. It would be more difficult to read her movements clearly now. It felt like he had lost her, unable to find where she was, but still felt her presence. Her tone was calm. So she wasn't lying. Or she could be a good liar. They've had plenty of time to make a move. She didn't try anything yet. This would be a good time to make her more comfortable. He was willing to be open, as long as she was willing to open herself. His eyes squinted to gain a better perception of her. In no time, he decided to make up something, if she asked questions about him. Just in case she betrayed him. Time for pretending.

He breathes a sigh of relief, " Good. So... if you're not a guard or a member of the Kasai family... then what are you doing here? "

He grips the handle of his umbrella tightly, ready for any false moves. Although she seemed like a person to trust...

She didn´t expected him to step back. She breathed out. Better, way better. And he even apologized. He seemed to be a good guy but she knew that it could be acting. In the dark she could make out the shape of his body. Her eyes deviated and went through the dark. She wasn´t in a hurry but staying here longer could be a mistake. Someone would notice the guards who were taken down by him. But he seemed to make sure that she wasn´t lying and she guessed that he wouldn´t let her go until she proofed it. She don´t wanted to justify herself to him for what she was doing. Was he really thinking that she would tell him anything about herself? It was made her feel angry but she needed to be calm to solve this.

"That´s not your concern. I´m not saying you should trust me but believe me this single time."

She breathed out loud.

"Asking me would be senseless. Just like you I won´t tell the truth until we can be sure that each of us is no enemy."

He nods. Though he was sure she didn't see him.

" I see... "

Time was flying by. They were in the same position. More guards would be around, and they would eventually find him. And her, of course. Or they would come sooner than expected. There was no telling whether they've found the knocked out guards or not. An alarm should go off any moment. No time to pretend now. He'll start telling the truth... for now.

" You can tell me later. I have to get back to what I was doing. "

He turned around, ready to walk away. The sound of his feet made it very clear. He was hoping she would stop him and start opening up. It would be even better if she asked to follow him. Then he could get the information out of her. If he had to gain her trust, he had to be of a benefit to her. Whatever she wanted.

The light from the room up in the building gave him a sense of where he was going. He would have to go back, and continue on. He waits for her to respond.
